On Sunday, November 7, St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church in Bolton, pastored by Rev. Darryl L. Magee, Sr., celebrated one hundred forty-one years of existing in the community.
While still wearing masks and social distancing, the members had a spiritually stirring service conducted by Pastor Magee. The Rev. Jimmy Black of Greater Pleasant Valley Church in Crystal Springs brought the anniversary message. His title was “We Owe Him Some,” scripture from Jude 24-25.
St. Thomas, organized in 1880, has been a beacon of light to the community for many years; like many churches, it grew from a brush harbor to a great house of worship.
St. Thomas members say they are very blessed to have several members still attending on a regular basis at ages 89 and 90.
St. Thomas currently welcomes adults and children for in-person Sunday School and worship services, as they continue to share these services on social media each Sunday morning at 9 and 10:30 a.m.
